Totally a scam, no doubt about it. I got a call from a number I didn’t know, but I was expecting a ring from Scottish Power so I picked up. The line was crackly and strange, so I didn’t want to give any info. I then rang Scottish Power myself using the number I found online, and they told me they hadn’t called me at all since October 2024. This is really worrying stuff, they sounded so believable. I let Scottish Power know, though I’m not sure they’ll do anything about it.

They keep ringing all the time, and if they say they’re from a legit firm, just look up the official contact number yourself and let them know you’re getting harassed by someone pretending to be them. I’ve noticed folks have flagged this number to SP going back to 2023, so looks like the company never bothered to report it to their fraud team. At first, they said they were from Carphone Warehouse, then changed to Scottish Power. If it’s supposedly a company, always ring their verified number and never give out any personal info if they call you. Total scam.

I missed a call from this number. I Googled it to check who it was. It is listed as a Scottish Power number from Redditch, in the Midlands. In truth, it is a call centre in South Africa, working on behalf of Scottish Power. I feel like this is malpractice. If they are calling from South Africa, then they should state so and not use UK dialling codes.

I recently received a rather dubious call from individuals purporting to be representatives of Virgin Media, insisting that I owe them £55.65. However, I had terminated my account with them at the end of May 2024, after ceasing to utilise their services back in February 2024 due to an unfortunate hacking incident. Since that time, I've been inundated with persistent calls from the number 01527 419 042 demanding payment. What's rather astonishing is that I’m finding the same number is also associated with Scottish Power! During the call, the operator persistently asked me to settle the account over the phone, despite my request for a final invoice to be sent instead. Spam call.. This lady rang me, don’t know who she was, didn’t explain anything clear at all. She wanted my name, address and email then tried to give me some sort of discount, said my account was fine though. I told her I’d ring back later. She was really rude, definitely a spam call.

The phone has been ringing incessantly at 8 in the morning for the past few days! It’s an unwelcome start to the day, and I suspect it’s from Scottish Power. The calls can happen as many as ten times a day, relentlessly throughout the daylight hours. I've had enough, so I've blocked the number, and of course, now an 0800 number has taken its place, incessantly attempting to reach me. There hasn’t been a single letter or email regarding this; Scottish Power certainly knows how to cause a stir. Despite my regular monthly payments, they persistently seek more cash. I’m currently forking out even more due to these astronomical price hikes that the government seems to turn a blind eye to. While I don’t necessarily think this is a dodgy number, I’m certain that Scottish Power engage in questionable practices! I even reached out to the Ombudsman, but they were utterly unhelpful and backed Scottish Power, leaving me to deal with this ongoing harassment.

Even tho the number shows it’s from Redditch, I called back and turns out they’re based in South Africa. Classic Scottish Power, always dodgy and not upfront about anything. You can’t believe a word they say. These sorts ought to be shut down. I’d really advise anyone to complain about SP to the Energy Ombudsman.

Whether you're contesting a charge or have previously resolved an issue with their regular customer service, they just won't cease calling until they get their cash. Even if you’ve informed them about your temporary financial difficulties and assured them that payment is on the horizon, they bombard you daily with calls, conveniently disregarding what you’ve previously communicated. What you're experiencing isn’t a genuine conversation; it’s a relentless barrage from agents who only have one track on their minds, blissfully ignorant of your circumstances until you’re forced to reiterate your plight... repeatedly. It’s like being subjected to a form of psychological harassment, and frankly, if they had any regard for people’s mental wellbeing, this sort of behaviour wouldn’t be tolerated. But it's evident they couldn’t care less. I’ve decided to block their number and will hold off on any conversations until my complaints have been addressed first.
