I seem to get calls like these all the time, roughly every couple of weeks, and honestly I enjoy turning the tables on them and wasting their time just like they do mine. After keeping one on the line for about ten minutes, I decided to spin a wild tale about how someone had crashed into me and I had been thrown off the White Cliffs of Dover. When they asked if anyone was hurt, I told them all eight passengers tragically died. Then when asked if I was hurt, I jokingly said I’d been decapitated. Proper laugh that one.

I listed my cousin’s car on Gumtree and used my mobile number. Within just five minutes, I got calls from about seven different numbers, all from a different city. They were claiming I’d been in an accident. When I told them I didn’t own a car, they suggested maybe I was a passenger at the time. Then, when I said no again, they started asking if anyone in my family had been involved in an accident. Proper strange and a bit creepy!
