I just had a call from this number, and it was eerily similar to a previous one I got from 02079521499. They were claiming they could stop all my pesky cold callers. Given that I’ve encountered this type of scam before, I promptly informed them that I was onto their game and ended the conversation.

The area code 01524 belongs to Lancaster, just so you’re aware. If you decide to return a call to this number, you’ll actually reach my line (01524 63337) which is private and completely unrelated to those making the calls. (Just a cheeky note - mine ends with a four!) To be honest, they strike me as scammers, so I can’t fathom why anyone would be keen on chatting with them. Do yourself a favour and block this number, and for goodness’ sake, stop calling me!

I find it incredibly frustrating to receive these calls incessantly! Surely, there must be a method for my phone provider to block specific numbers on request? Being a Virgin customer, I contacted them about it, but they claimed it's not possible. Is that really the case?

When I picked up the call, there was nothing but quiet on the other end. I've no clue who it could be, so I've gone ahead and blocked the number.

Seems like if you try to claim PPI back, whether you go straight to the bank or use a refund company, you end up getting put on some sort of shared blacklist across the whole sector. It’s daft really - if I’ve already made a claim, why would another outfit think I need their help too? This number is just one of loads that calls me a couple of times daily. They use slightly different versions of the number, probably to dodge my voicemail. They never bother to leave a message, and they hide their caller ID, which is a dead giveaway that it’s a scam.

I've received two calls in the past four days from someone with an Asian accent. He claimed to have removed my number from a list to prevent nuisance calls and inquired who I pay my direct debit to, insisting it was necessary for him to verify that those calls would cease. He even suggested I check my direct debit status right away. When I mentioned that my daughter handles that, he abruptly hung up on me both times. It's rather frustrating!
