Got a call from some firm talking about an accident that I supposedly caused, but honestly, I had nothing to do with it. Sounded like a total scam to me.

Watch out, this is definitely one of those accident claim scams. They try to convince you that you could get compensation, then they start asking for your card info for some ‘initial payment’. It’s a complete con. Never ever share your bank details over the phone with these people.
