Received a call earlier from 01522752248, a woman saying she was from Sky checking the internet. Felt it might be dodgy but played along just to be sure. Did my own speed check on my phone and refused to download anything she wanted. Noticed my router flashing orange before turning blue. When she told me to open the Play Store, I flat out said no. Then she got annoyed, saying I was taking ages and called me a **** #### spammer or something. Total rubbish!

Got a call at half seven in the morning from someone saying they were from Microsoft, insisting there was an issue with my PC and wanting me to switch it on so they could sort it remotely. I told them Microsoft doesn't ring you like that and my McAfee would block any trying to get in without permission. They didn’t argue and just ended the call.

Whenever I get calls on my landline from numbers I don’t know, I usually let it ring out instead of picking up and wait to see if a voicemail is left. Most of the time, there’s no message, so I end up reporting the number through your site. SCAM ALERT!! Some woman with an Indian accent called claiming to be from BT, saying she needed to check my broadband. Since we don’t even have BT as our provider, I knew straight away it was fishy. I asked her if this was a scam and she just cut the call. Total rubbish!

I got a call supposedly from Microsoft. I fired off loads of questions and the guy gave me a name and an employee ID. He also tossed out a serial number for our PC (not sure if it was right) plus a phone number to contact Microsoft and verify if it was all legit. The Microsoft number was actually real, but when I tried to report the scam, there was no one to speak to. Instead, they just told me to use their online tech support.

Received a call claiming my Virgin Wi-Fi was being shared by others and was told to enter a certain URL on my iPhone, which turned out to reveal my IP’s country code. That’s when I promptly told them to jog on because it was obviously a scam. It wasn’t the Indian accent that bothered me so much, but the bloke was pretty pushy, insisting I follow his instructions. Just a heads-up, Virgin doesn’t need your help to check your Wi-Fi or devices since they manage everything themselves and can run diagnostics whenever they like. What puzzled me though was how they seemed to know I’d had internet problems recently (fixed just yesterday, by the way), but I was expecting a call from Virgin themselves this morning, so maybe just a coincidence.
