In just two days I’ve had two calls. Since I use monitoring, they’re meant to identify themselves before I pick up. They do say their name but then quickly hang up before I can even say no.

This number called but didn’t leave a voicemail, instead tried to trick me by using a fake name to get me to pick up. I ignored the call and have since added it to my block list.

Today I got a call from someone saying he was ‘Adrian’ and working for ‘Bulldog Security.’ He was really pushy and said they were installing monitored alarms around here. He kept asking me to confirm my address and sounded quite genuine. Said he wanted to come round and show the alarm system in person and mentioned he’d call again tomorrow. He knew my name and kept pressing me to verify my details - feels like these cold calls aren’t even allowed! He gave me a Bulldog Security number: 0844 2882905, and that checks out with a website under that name.

some bloke called daniel claiming he worked for a security firm. he was really persistent, kept pushing even after i mentioned we’ve got cameras and an alarm setup. he said a representative would ring us tomorrow for sure. we’re on the do not call list and our number is unlisted anyway.

She claimed to be calling from a local home security company and said she’d swing by tomorrow to offer some advice and maybe a quote. Once I interrupted her to say I already have a security system installed, she just went quiet for a moment and then blurted out, “Well, good luck then.”
