Got a call from a lady claiming to be from Microsoft, she started by asking when I had ended the call yesterday and why I did it! She then turned quite rude and pushy when I said I wasn't interested in hearing about how my PC was supposedly hacked by scammers. I just hung up on her. She didn't stop there and rang me back two times straight after, but I just ignored those calls.

Got loads of calls the past few days from someone claiming to be with Virgin Media, saying there’s a problem with my internet. They asked me to count the lights on my router and then wanted me to punch in some numbers they gave me. I didn’t even bother looking at the router cos I know Virgin don’t work like that. I told the bloke he wasn’t really from Virgin and hung up. Honestly, they’re such a pain, pretending to be all polite but really just scams. Watch out everyone, these scammers are everywhere!

Just got a call from 01522 309922 about 5 minutes ago saying they were calling from cyber security and that my laptop was at risk. I told them I don’t have a laptop and they got really rude, started swearing and calling me names. I explained not everyone uses laptops but they insisted my security would be switched off. Then they asked to speak to my partner, I said he was at work, but they accused me of lying and demanded to speak to him. When I refused, they told me to F off. Proper rude bunch!

I decided to end the conversation there. Strangely enough, I encountered a similar situation three times yesterday with a different number, 0141 404 1913, which, interestingly, also connects back to Gamma Telephone Holdings. Quite unsettling, really!

I received a call purportedly from the technical support team at Virgin, who claimed to be assisting me with my broadband troubles. The individual spoke with a thick Indian accent that made it quite challenging to comprehend much of the conversation. This is undeniably a scam - the caller seemed intent on keeping me engaged, insisting that it was a government-sanctioned service. They spun a web of fabrication, attempting to persuade me to access a dubious Validator webpage. I ultimately decided to hang up.

I got a call from someone who said his name was Jack Watson. He had a strong Indian accent and claimed to be ringing from BT’s main office on Newgate Street in London. He told me there was an issue with the internet in my area and even gave me the start of my postcode to sound legit. I knew right away it was a scam and told him as much, but he denied it and I ended the call. Like others have mentioned here, the number actually came from Lincolnshire, not London’s Newgate Street as he’d said.

After that, there was a bit of a back-and-forth in a language we couldn't catch, prompting my husband to request they communicate in English. To our surprise, they just hung up after that!

Then I pointed out that I wasn’t even a BT customer, and she boldly claimed to "represent the entirety of the internet" - quite the laugh, I must say! Despite my accusations of her being a scammer, she insisted I should verify her credentials with BT, which, surprise surprise, turned out to be a complete ruse. What was particularly disconcerting was her promise to send me a text message to prove her identity. She did indeed follow through, messaging me from a number that appeared to be a flashy BT identifier - sharing even more personal information about me. However, genuine messages from BT are sent from specific numbered services, all detailed on their official website. It’s all quite dodgy, if you ask me!
