Got a call from a lady claiming to be from Microsoft, she started by asking when I had ended the call yesterday and why I did it! She then turned quite rude and pushy when I said I wasn't interested in hearing about how my PC was supposedly hacked by scammers. I just hung up on her. She didn't stop there and rang me back two times straight after, but I just ignored those calls.

Got a call from a woman with an Indian accent saying she was from BT, telling me my internet might be at risk and asking to get into my computer. She mentioned my first name which creeped me out - maybe BT’s leaked my info or something, like that’s happened to me before. Definitely suspicious, watch out for this kinda scam!

Got loads of calls the past few days from someone claiming to be with Virgin Media, saying there’s a problem with my internet. They asked me to count the lights on my router and then wanted me to punch in some numbers they gave me. I didn’t even bother looking at the router cos I know Virgin don’t work like that. I told the bloke he wasn’t really from Virgin and hung up. Honestly, they’re such a pain, pretending to be all polite but really just scams. Watch out everyone, these scammers are everywhere!

Just got a call from 01522 309922 about 5 minutes ago saying they were calling from cyber security and that my laptop was at risk. I told them I don’t have a laptop and they got really rude, started swearing and calling me names. I explained not everyone uses laptops but they insisted my security would be switched off. Then they asked to speak to my partner, I said he was at work, but they accused me of lying and demanded to speak to him. When I refused, they told me to F off. Proper rude bunch!

Got a call on my landline at 8.15 in the morning. There's no way I'm picking up the house phone that early. Anyone who needs to reach me has my mobile, so they always just text or call that.

Some bloke called claiming he was from Virgin's tech support, said he was there to fix my internet problems. His accent was super thick, sounded Indian, and I was struggling to get half of what he was saying. Total rip-off - he kept begging me to stay on the line, saying it was some government backed Virgin service, but it all seemed dodgy. He then asked me to go to some ‘Validator’ website, which made me suspicious. I just hung up straight away.

I got a call from someone who said his name was Jack Watson. He had a strong Indian accent and claimed to be ringing from BT’s main office on Newgate Street in London. He told me there was an issue with the internet in my area and even gave me the start of my postcode to sound legit. I knew right away it was a scam and told him as much, but he denied it and I ended the call. Like others have mentioned here, the number actually came from Lincolnshire, not London’s Newgate Street as he’d said.

About an hour ago, I saw I'd missed a call from a UK landline with an Andover area code, but luckily I Didn't answer. Doing a bit of digging, it turns out the number is linked to Gamma Telecom Holdings Ltd. So, I’m pretty sure it’s some kind of scam. Think I’ll just disconnect the landline altogether to be safe.

Got a call just before 8 this morning, and when I asked what the call was about, the bloke was pretty rude. I could hear a bunch of chatter in the background like a call centre. We explained we don’t even have Microsoft software installed, but he kept going on. Then he said he’d get his supervisor on the phone. They started chatting in a language we didn’t understand, so my husband told them to speak English. After that, they just hung up.

Got calls from a chap with an Asian accent claiming he was ringing from "Microsoft Reading". He kept insisting I switch my computer on and gave me some "Microsoft registration number". A guy called me claiming he was from Virgin Media Broadband, said his name was Jack and he had a South Asian accent. Had the strangest phone call today! This bloke claimed he was from BT - or maybe it was VT? I asked him to clear it up but he just dodged the question. I kept things friendly and upbeat, and he matched my vibe. He asked if I’d eaten, wondered why I was chuckling, and if I was chuffed about us winning the World Cup last night. That was pretty much the whole chat before he hung up. Still don’t know what he was after!

A lady with a South Asian accent rang me three different times, claiming she was calling from BT, saying someone was using my broadband without permission. When I questioned her, she said she worked for a BT subcontractor. I told her I wasn’t even a BT customer, but she insisted she “represented the entire internet” - quite funny, really. Even after I said she sounded like a scammer, she kept going. I double-checked with BT, and obviously it was a scam. What worried me most was when she offered to prove she was from BT by sending me a text. I got a message from what looked like a BT-branded number, and it even had some of my personal info. But BT never text from a ‘BT’ name; they use specific short codes which are clearly listed on their official site.
