Got a call from someone saying they were from a UK Compensation Team about some "accident" I supposedly had but never reported! So, I found out that TPS won’t look into calls that are just recorded messages, not actual people calling you. The TPS have told me they don’t look into calls that are just recorded messages, not actual people talking. If you want to report these, you need to go through the ICO (Information Commissioner’s Office). I’ve added the link below. If enough of us don’t report them, these calls will just keep on annoying us all. We really need to get these firms shut down - it’s about time!

This number gave me a ring today, 13/03/12, about 10.18 in the morning UK time. I didn't pick up. They’ve also been calling me a few times over the past week, usually around the same hour. Every time, I tell them right away I’m registered with the TPS and ask them to take me off their calling list. I usually don’t even bother hearing them out.

Got a call at 5:22pm but I wasn’t home. When my answer machine picked up, some automated system left a message saying different numbers to press - one to speak to someone, another to get a “pack,” and one more to unsubscribe or something. Then it just waited silently for about 8 seconds for me to respond. Obviously no reply from me since it was an answerphone, so it hung up. Some lady with an Eastern European accent called, asking me about my opinion on the Wiltshire Police. She kept asking questions but never said who she was properly or asked for any ID. I answered all of them, but now I'm starting to regret it, even though I'm not sure why. Got a call at 12:41 on 26 Feb 2013 with a recorded voice about wiping out old debts. Said I might have unsecured loans over £10k and that 70% could be written off legally. I have my phone set up so that all calls go straight to voicemail because of some harassment I had before. I only answer if the person says who they are and if I feel like chatting. This number popped up on 22nd Feb at 12:21, of course, no voicemail left. Nobody ever actually signs up for these calls, they’re just a bunch of scoundrels trying to trick folks who aren’t looking out for themselves. I got a call earlier today just after lunch, claiming there was some accident I supposedly was involved in - which is complete nonsense. I’m on the TPS list, but those automated calls slip through because the TPS doesn't cover robocalls. From what I’ve heard, these auto-diallers might even be against the law here, so it’s quite possible there’s no real person behind the line at all. Most people here seem to agree, the best move is to report these calls to the ICO. Here’s another thought - for those of us with free calls during evenings or weekends, why not keep ringing these numbers non-stop to jam up their lines? If by chance someone does pick up, we can warn them about some “accident” that might be coming their way soon!
