Watch out! Got a cold call from a guy with an Asian accent who sounded like he was reading from a script in some call centre. He kept chattering about how I’d been picked for a discount card giving 50% off at loads of places like shops and restaurants. Said the card would turn up at my door soon if I just answered a few questions, starting with my age group. That’s when I twigged it was dodgy and told him to buzz off. Seems I’m not alone, judging by some of the similar stories people have shared about this number. Absolute nuisance!

She asked me to confirm my address, which she already had, then for my first name. That’s when I just hung up. The funny thing is, because of BT's mess-up, the bill is actually in a different name here, and if I tried to change it, I’d lose my number which I’ve had for over 50 years. Got a call early in the day from someone claiming to be with BT about my internet. They told me some foreign hackers had broken into my PC and were using my iPhone's IP address to do dodgy stuff. I said, "I better call the police and let them know." They replied, "No worries, I can help you sort it out." I told them, "Thanks, but I know how to report crimes to the police myself." Then they just hung up on me.
