After I said hello twice and waited a bit, some bloke with an Indian accent, calling himself ‘Terry’ from BT, finally responded, but he sounded like he was a miles away. I asked straight up why he was ringing, and he just snapped back with ‘don’t be so nasty’ before hanging up on me! Absolute nerve. I’ve never had a BT account, so this was obviously a scam. These idiots need to be stopped! This happened on my work phone, by the way.

I got a call on my work landline the other day, but the minute I answered, the caller just hung up straight away.

I recently received a dodgy call claiming to be from BT regarding a fault on my line. When I mentioned that I wasn't a BT customer, she got quite irked and insisted I was. I cheekily told her I adored a good scam, and then my phone suddenly went dead. What really gave me the shivers was when she rattled off my address like it was nothing.

I received a call from someone claiming to be from 'BT' and their accent raised my suspicions! When I probed a bit about his qualifications, he hung up in a hurry. It’s clearly a dodgy operation. Stay vigilant, everyone!

Received a phone call from a chap of Asian descent claiming to be from BT, informing me of some technical issues. The thing is, we're not even with BT!

Received a call this morning - the bloke had an Asian accent claiming to be from Openreach. He wanted to check my internet speeds and whether I was near my laptop, going on about it endlessly. It's quite ridiculous, as this is the second time I've had this sort of call in just four days - clearly the same dodgy scam. The last time I was so fed up that I suggested he might find a more respectable career as a streetwalker!

I've received five calls so far today-it's incredibly irritating since I’m working from home. The phone keeps ringing during my Teams meetings. It's this bloke pretending to be from BT, claiming there’s an issue with my line and that I need to grant him access to my laptop. As if I’d fall for that! And I suppose next, he'll address me as Queen Elizabeth! Any tips on how to put an end to this nonsense? It's beyond frustrating!

We've just received our usual phone call from this number purporting to be from BT Openreach. They’re claiming that our network is open and they want to assist in rectifying the issue. I actually had a conversation with Openreach last week, and they directed me to a website for reporting such matters. However, when I tried to access it, I was met with a 404 error saying the page wasn’t available. Quite frustrating, really!

Utterly fraudulent scheme.

Received a call from this number earlier. A gentleman with an Asian accent claimed to be representing Open Reach, insisting they had conducted some assessments on my internet speeds, which, he asserted, were rather poor. Sensing a scam, I decided to engage him in conversation. He inquired about my download speed, but I feigned ignorance and replied that I didn’t have that information at hand. Then he asked if I had my laptop handy, to which I cheekily responded, “I take it you’re going to request remote access to my computer, then?” He promptly disconnected the call. Just a heads-up to everyone, stay vigilant!

beware of scams! if you get a dodgy call or message, make sure you report it straight to the police fraud site. just search for ‘action fraud’ or head to ‘police.uk’ and find the section for reporting phishing. read all the instructions carefully before submitting the details of the scam, including any suspicious links or website addresses. you don’t need to sign up or give personal info unless you’ve actually lost money. the only way the police can track these scam attempts is if enough people report them, so please don’t ignore any strange calls or texts.

I called BT and they said the number used to belong to a business about 30 years ago but now it’s residential. When I told them it’s a home line, they just hung up. Feels like they’re after something dodgy, maybe trying to scam. Probably grabbing numbers out of old directories like the Yellow Pages or Thomson Local.

I received a phone call from someone who said he was a tech support chap from BT, claiming he could sort out my dodgy router issues. He wanted a whole heap of personal information, which immediately put me on guard. Since I'm not even a BT customer, I had a strong feeling this was some sort of con!

I got a call from someone pretending to be from HMRC, telling me I hadn’t paid some tax and if I didn’t sort it straight away, they’d take legal action. They wanted my bank details but I told them HMRC wouldn’t ask for that over the phone - they’d send a letter instead.

I received a rather curious phone call from someone claiming to be from BT, insisting that there was an issue with my internet connection. Strangely, he recited a postcode that closely resembled my own. However, the moment I mentioned we weren't experiencing any internet troubles, he abruptly ended the conversation. Quite the dodgy encounter, I must say!
