When I asked him to verify his affiliation, he seemed rather put out and began rambling on. I cut the conversation short before he could spin any more of his tales. It was clear he realised I was onto him and his dodgy scheme was about to fall apart.

Got a call from a woman with a Chinese accent from some call centre about equity release. I asked her why she assumed I own my place, and she kinda stumbled, no proper answer. Told her straight up I don’t own my home, and she hung up pretty politely after that. Since they claimed to offer equity release but didn’t ask anything about my finances, I reckon it’s a dodgy scam to gather info. Blocked the number immediately.
