Fake Warrant Fraudsters - Some bloke called Mohammed Shezan Irfan said he was there cause of a Court Warrant, but couldn’t show any legit number. He gave me a fake ID saying he was from a firm called "Jacobs". He even tried to force his way into my house. I reckon this firm is legit, but they seriously need to double-check who they’re contacting. I received a call that went straight to answerphone along with a couple of text messages, all claiming I owe council tax to Colchester BC. Thing is, I’ve never even been to Colchester and I don’t pay council tax at all.

I got a message claiming it was from Bradford Council demanding I pay £12,684 for some road traffic fine. The text told me to ring 01516504800 and mention “Red ********”. Thing is, I haven’t driven or even been near the road in over a decade and I’ve certainly never been to Bradford, always stuck around Norfolk when I did drive! Got called by what looks like a scammer, so I reported it to the police so they can sort it out. The message said it was from Harrow Council (HARRCCC - 516) about unpaid Road Traffic fines of £484. They told me to ring 01516504800 and quote ref 33033937, warning if I don’t get back to them my case will be sent to an Enforcement Agent who might visit and charge me more. The name at the end was JACOBS. Seemed dodgy to me.

I received a rather dubious message on Saturday morning, 23rd July 2022. It came from the number +447800005130. The content was rather alarming: "We are acting on behalf of Manchester City Council regarding your alleged non-payment of a Road Traffic fee. The amount owed is £174.00. Please reach our office without delay on 01516504800, and remember to mention Ref 31740673. Regards, Jacobs." First off, I found it odd that there was no personalisation-neither my name nor the name of the intended recipient was included. The phrase 'Road Traffic' was used, yet they failed to specify whether it was related to an accident, parking incident, or speeding violation. It all seems rather unprofessional, doesn't it? One would expect a formal letter instead of a text for such serious matters. In any case, I’m inclined to disregard or block this number, as it’s starting to feel like a scam.

Watch out for this council tax scam! I pay my council tax by direct debit and checked my council's site, everything’s all paid up. These fraudsters use the real council name, but they give a fake reference number and make up an amount to pay. They even use a phoney name, Jacobs, which is cockney rhyming slang meaning you’ve been tricked. Proper dodgy stuff.

Got a call today from some removal team sayin I can pay my supposed debt in instalments. They left a number 01516504800 and a ref 22486344 but never said what the debt’s actually about. Thing is, I don’t owe anyone anything as far as I know, never had any credit cards or loans. I’m homeless and been sofa surfing for ages, so no clue what address they think their removal team’s at. I don’t owe anything, never had credit cards or loans, and I’m actually homeless, been crashing on friends’ sofas for 3 years so no idea what address they reckon their removal team is at. Totally rubbish and obviously some dodgy scam trying to mess with people. Proper scammy nonsense.

This is undoubtedly a scam - steer clear of any messages requesting payment and *definitely* don't ring the number they provide. I’ve recently set up a SIM just a fortnight ago, and its number is completely under wraps since it’s tucked away in a modem for my holiday internet access. Yet, here I am receiving this nonsensical text. Just ignore it entirely.

"Reminder: A payment of £150.00 is due on 27th April 2019, followed by £70.00 on 27th May 2019. Should you encounter any issues, please contact 0151 650 4800 immediately and quote Ref 17719550. If a payment was made in the last 24 hours, you can disregard this." - Jacobs.

Received a rather peculiar text today, containing a reference code and a claim that I owe £835, which apparently won't be resolved easily. Strangely, there was no information regarding the entity supposedly responsible for this debt, but I'm quite certain I have no financial obligations. I've opted to block the number.

I recently received a rather alarming message claiming that Bolton MBC has instructed a firm to chase me for an outstanding road traffic payment of £158. They’ve provided a contact number, 0151 650 4800, and a reference number, 21285374, supposedly for this matter. However, it’s worth noting that this message came through on my mobile internet dongle rather than a regular phone. Since I reside in Norfolk and have never set foot in Bolton, I can't help but feel this is likely a scam. What a strange and dubious situation!

I looked up the number and it showed Jacobs Enforcement. I've been receiving letters from them about my unpaid council tax. The original amount was under £100 but now they want me to pay more than £600. Other companies are chasing me too, so they’ll have to wait their turn. I’ve gone ahead and blocked their calls.

I've received a rather dubious call from the number mentioned, demanding a payment of £173.00 for something supposedly linked to the Manchester City Council. It all feels rather fishy, so I would strongly advise against engaging with them. Stay wary!

I received a rather disturbing call on behalf of my elderly mother, who is unfortunately in hospital at the moment. The caller claimed to be from Rochdale MBC, insisting they were chasing her for unpaid council tax. It's evidently a scam, and I quickly realised this when I rang the number back, only to be kept on hold indefinitely. A swift search online revealed countless others have had similar experiences, all being threatened with non-existent debts to a council far removed from their own area. I'm left wondering, should I report this to Ofcom myself, or is there some other avenue to take? Who is actually responsible for addressing such matters, and is there a possibility of shutting this number down for good?

I got a message from the number 07800005180 claiming that I have an outstanding balance of £174.00, referencing 15063308 Jacobs. This message was sent to my emergency pay-as-you-go phone. When I tried to call back, they just kept me on hold forever! Clearly a scam to lure me into racking up call charges, because I certainly don’t owe a penny to anyone!

I recently had a chat with someone named Gemma, and she quite firmly instructed me to remove my number from their contact list. I don’t owe a penny to anyone! Despite having two distinct reference numbers, she wasn’t able to identify who I am, yet they seem to have my number on speed dial to pester me incessantly. If this were to happen to an elderly individual, they would be absolutely frantic over the thought of owing a sum of £3000. It’s absolutely outrageous!

I got a call from a debt collector about my council tax debt for Stockport Council. They already had all my account info, and I even double-checked with the council myself before I made the payment to be sure.
