From what I've gathered, these people just want to catch you saying things like "Yes", "Alright", or "I agree" on the phone. Then, they likely sell these recordings to firms such as Scottish Power (that's my guess) among others. After that, those recordings get used as some sort of voice contract with that company. You'll probably hear from the actual company too, afterwards. Just to be clear: this is how I see this phone number situation. Lately, I’ve been getting loads of calls from them and Scottish Power keeps telling me I supposedly agreed to a voice/phone energy contract, which I never signed up for.

BEWARE, don't share any details! This bloke rang me up and mentioned an old postcode I used to have, then started to ask about my social media to stalk me online. I got a call from a man with an Indian accent asking if I was Mrs ... which I’m not. When I said no, he snapped back with “Then who do you think you are!” Completely shocked to be spoken to like that in my own home. He went on to ask for my postcode, age, and even if I had a daughter! I told him I don’t share personal details and asked who he was and what the call was about. He said his name was Max and he was ringing about my washing machine. I asked what brand and he said Hoover. I told him my washing machine isn’t a Hoover and told him not to call me again because I’m on the TPS list. So fed up with these annoying calls.
