Got a call from a bloke with an accent claiming to be from TPS. I told him straight up he was pestering me and then just ended the call. I only picked up 'cause the number started like a local one, 0151 606 5678.

Like I said before, after hanging up I decided to look up the name and postcode he gave me using BT directory enquiries. That’s when it got a bit weird. The address showed up on the very same street, only a few miles away from somewhere I’d been searching on Google about half an hour earlier. Just a random coincidence, or is there more going on here?

So these people called asking for someone who wasn’t me, but I played along and said yep, that’s me. They claimed to be from the TPS and wanted to verify this card I supposedly used. They rattled off loads of stuff like a postcode that didn’t ring any bells, and I just confirmed every single bit. Then they asked me to grab the card (already suspicious by now), and weirdly called the card number my personal number. That’s when I told them they’d been wasting both our time, gave a proper rude farewell, and hung up sharpish.

This isn’t the first occasion I’ve received a call from this number. Every time I answer, there’s utter silence on the line. As soon as I attempt to engage, they utter a quick farewell and promptly disconnect.

I got a call from someone saying they were with the Telephone Preference Service. Whenever I tried to ask about their details, they didn’t want to give much info. When I asked for a contact number, they gave me one that wasn’t the same as the one calling me. The guy sounded Asian and said his name was Alec, but he just hung up mid-conversation. This was actually the second time I’ve had a call like this in two days.

Got a call from someone with an Asian accent claiming to be from the Telephone Preference Service. Told him I'm already signed up with TPS, and then he flipped it to say he was from Telephone Preference Management. When I asked where he was calling from, he paused a bit and said London, but the number showed up as Liverpool. Didn't feel right, so I just hung up. Sounded like one of those scams to me.

On the 25th of May 2018, some Asian woman rang me and tried to guess my name, but she got it wrong. She went on about being from TPS management and said I needed to pay to get my name registered. I told her I was already registered and then she just ended the call. Definitely a complete scam!

Got a call from some bloke claiming I needed to renew my TPS service. I let him carry on for a bit, but then he tried to get me to confirm the card details supposedly used for some admin fee when I first signed up. That never happened, so I cut him off straight away and blocked the number. Sounded like a total phishing attempt, so watch out for that sort of nonsense!

Got a call from a number I didn't recognise, sounded like some dodgy accent, definitely not from Liverpool despite the area code. The person said they were trying to stop nuisance calls but then started asking for personal info. I asked a few questions and they just ended the call on me. Bit suspicious if you ask me.
