Some woman called saying she was from a company called Fair Wills or something, wanting to check if my legal paperwork was all sorted. I told her I already have a will with my lawyer and didn’t need anything else. Then she asked about lasting power of attorney. I told her I’m fed up with random calls like this and if I want that sort of thing I’ll look into it myself. I told her to take me off their contact list and never ring again. She kept going on, but I just said goodbye and ended the call.

Make sure you block the number and report it by texting 7726. Also, it’s worth shooting an email to your local MP asking two important questions: why can’t we report scam calls directly through the police’s Action Fraud website anymore? And why hasn’t the phone industry rolled out Caller ID Authentication tech yet, which could actually cut down on these annoying scams. If you get scam texts, forward them to 7726 too. Plus, any scam emails or screenshots of dodgy texts should be sent over to the police at '[email protected]' so they can look into it.
