What I've started doing is picking up, saying something like, "Hello, thank you for calling, please wait a moment, your call matters," and without fail, they just hang up. Then I just block the number straight away. Works every time!

Trying to rob someone is illegal. This call probably didn’t come from Liverpool or anywhere in the UK. You should report these scam calls to the authorities. Just search for 'action fraud' on Google, pick the 'police.uk' website and then click on the 'reporting' section - avoid the victim link unless you actually got scammed. Make sure to report it as a phishing scam.

Received a phone call on 30th October 2019 at approximately 5:20 in the evening regarding loft insulation. The woman on the line seemed to have an Asian background, yet she attempted to mask that fact. It's high time these call centres acknowledged that we, the recipients of these unsolicited calls, aren’t exactly clueless. Their lack of transparency is evident from the get-go. I called back the number and got an automated voice. A lady with an American accent thanked me for getting in touch and said that if I wanted to ‘opt out’, I should leave my name and phone number. She didn’t explain what exactly I’d be opting out of though. Bit fishy, could be a scam - or maybe not?
