Got a call from a Liverpool number, turned out to be DRS, the HMRC's debt recovery branch for taxes. They were ringing to arrange a payment plan, no extra interest and no unexpected visits, which was a relief. Still, the debt goes up by about 33p each day until it's cleared. They were alright to talk to, quite amicable and as much help as you'd expect from the tax people.

They've been ringing me nonstop like every day for the last three weeks straight. It's driving me mad!

Got this weird call just the other day, sounded like some robot going through the Teams switchboard message. All I caught was the last bit on the voicemail, nothing more. Honestly, if you get a call with that robotic voice, best to just assume it’s a scam.

As soon as I answered, it just switched to a robotic message telling me to "ring them back." Feels like a proper dodgy scam to me.

I was tied into a two year contract with TalkTalk which ended last September. Once it finished, I rang them straight away to cancel my line as I no longer needed it. Despite that, I signed up for a different provider the same month, yet TalkTalk kept sending me bills every month. To make matters worse, a debt recovery service started harassing me about money I don’t owe, and TalkTalk even blocked my phone number. It feels like a total scam, just a way for them to bully people into paying up.

Over the past week, I missed 4 calls and then yesterday this letter arrived saying I owe money to Klarna. Thing is, I've never even signed up with them! So I got in touch with Klarna, sent them the letter, and they checked their records - turns out there's no account in my name. The letter was from some company called DRS Recovery for Debt, but I’ve been told it’s a scam. I’ve reported it to action fraud and passed all the info to them. Klarna advised me to just ignore the letter. Hopefully this warns others in the same boat!

Im so sick of getting calls every single day, even blocked the number and it still comes through! They leave voice messages saying I owe like £1500 to eBay or something. I called eBay and they said it was a mistake. A mate of mine lost his dad recently, these jokers called him and he ended up paying about £350. When he asked for a receipt, they said it would take over three weeks! Sounds like a total scam to me. Why on earth dont BT do something to block these idiots?

Got a text from this number claiming I owe money to British Telecom. Thing is, I've never had any kind of BT account, so it's obviously a scam trying to trick people.

Got a ring from this number earlier, and they followed up with a letter about some PAYE debt they said I owed. Claimed to be from HMRC and pressured me to pay straight away over the phone. I told them I’d just sort it out through the official HMRC website instead. They seemed alright with that, put me on hold to "verify" their details, but I ended the call. Turns out I do owe money, but the £3,500 they asked for was way off from what I actually owe.

Got loads of texts from this number claiming to be some debt collection agency named DRS, warning me about bailiffs and court over what they said was money owed on my eBay account. Spent about three hours sorting it all out, calling eBay and PayPal to check and make sure I didn’t owe anything. Turns out my account’s fine, no debts at all. Feels dodgy to me, probably a scam.

They keep ringing and texting me constantly, like several times each day. Saying they're from Volkswagen trying to get money off me, but I don't owe them a penny. I even checked with VW themselves and they said there’s nothing owed. Still, I get bothered every single day, feels like proper harassment.

Got a message from what said it was my doctor’s office, saying I owe money on my Klarna account. I’ve made purchases through Klarna before and I’m pretty sure I always paid on time since I don’t like being in debt. Plus, there’s cash in my account ready to clear any bills. Does anyone know if this is for real?

Debt and Revenue Services, based in Liverpool, certainly don't warrant any real concern. It's quite remarkable how they go about their business in such a forgettable manner! I’d strongly advise against reaching out to them, as their main aim seems to be chasing up purported debts. Trust me, there’s nothing pressing or urgent with them, so just don’t feel pressured into making that call.

These individuals pursue genuine debts. We stood as guarantors for a loan for our business before it ultimately collapsed, and subsequently, our details were handed over to DRS, who managed to locate us. Their approach can be rather intimidating at times. We acknowledge the pressure they apply. It’s crucial to reach out to them promptly; a representative is scheduled to pay a visit in one of the upcoming weeks next month, for instance. However, when you stand your ground, they’ve been (or may be) quite accommodating towards us. Just don’t let them intimidate you. They tried to pressure us into settling a sum of £3,500 when we only actually owe £1,200!
