In the end, I decided it was best to cut the conversation short and hung up, as it became quite evident he was just trying to pull a fast one.

After a while, they claimed to be from a government-funded organisation dealing with loft insulation and home surveys. I asked for the company's name and how they obtained my contact number but couldn’t catch the answer properly. When I asked again, they just ended the call. From what I’ve heard in past calls like these, they might push you into arranging a loft survey, then say you require extra insulation and persuade you to part with a few thousand quid, promising to cover half the cost.
