I received a call from this number, and an Indian woman claimed she was representing O2. I immediately terminated the call without hesitation.

Received a rather dodgy phone call purporting to be from O2, claiming they were offering a 40% reduction on my bills. The caller mentioned that I would get two messages from O2; the first was apparently harmless, while the second would provide me with a code to relay back to her. Sure enough, I got both texts from O2. The initial one warned me not to trust anyone asking for the code, stating they were not genuine O2 employees, and advised me to terminate the call immediately. I informed her that I was indeed going to hang up and contact O2 directly to confirm. To my surprise, the woman with an Indian accent promptly rang me again from a London number, insisting she had already clarified her affiliation with O2 and that there was no need for me to verify. I cut her off again and proceeded to block the numbers. No doubt about it, this is a scam!

At that point, I decided to terminate the conversation. Quite suspicious, I must say!

On 25/03, there were three posts shared here about how to deal with these scams. I’m curious how many actually followed the advice. If people don’t report these scams exactly as described, there’s no chance of them getting stopped. It’s important everyone takes some responsibility: report these dodgy calls on this site so others are warned, notify the police, and even drop an email to your MP asking what’s being done. Without that, nothing’s gonna change.

Avoid this one, total SCAM! If you get calls or messages like this, make sure you report it straight away. Just google ‘action fraud’ and visit the ‘police.uk’ website. They have a section called ‘report phishing attempt’ where you can read all the info you need. After that, put in all the details about the scam, including any links or website info. This is how the police can track how bad these scams really are. Don’t ignore it!
