Got a call from this number, some lady with an Indian accent claiming to be from O2. I just ended it right there.

Got a call from someone saying they were from O2, offering a 40% discount on my bill. She said I’d get two texts from O2 - told me I could ignore the first but needed to read a code from the second to her. Turns out, the first text was a warning from O2 saying if anyone calls asking for a code, they’re a scam and to hang up immediately. I told the woman I was ending the call and checking directly with O2. Then she rang back from a London number, argued that she’d already explained she was from O2 so no need to call them, but I wasn’t having it. Hung up and blocked the numbers. Definitely a scam.

On 25/03, there were three posts shared here about how to deal with these scams. I’m curious how many actually followed the advice. If people don’t report these scams exactly as described, there’s no chance of them getting stopped. It’s important everyone takes some responsibility: report these dodgy calls on this site so others are warned, notify the police, and even drop an email to your MP asking what’s being done. Without that, nothing’s gonna change.

Avoid this one, total SCAM! If you get calls or messages like this, make sure you report it straight away. Just google ‘action fraud’ and visit the ‘police.uk’ website. They have a section called ‘report phishing attempt’ where you can read all the info you need. After that, put in all the details about the scam, including any links or website info. This is how the police can track how bad these scams really are. Don’t ignore it!
