Got a call from a number I didn’t recognise, hadn’t asked for it either.

I got a call from this number earlier, but because it looked suspicious and showed up as spam, I decided not to pick up. What made it tricky is that the area code is the same as where some of my family live, so normally I’d be quick to answer in case it was something important about my dad. Luckily, I managed to look up the number online and found this website, so cheers for the heads-up and helping me avoid a possible scam.

I've recently received a call from two gentlemen purporting to be from O2, and I managed to see through their little ruse. They promised me a discount hamper with complimentary delivery, claiming one of the items was an Apple smartwatch as a gesture for the supposed network issues. One of them said he'd email me a pin code that I needed to provide to them, and insisted that I wouldn't be able to use my phone for the next 48 hours due to 'maintenance work' to upgrade me to 5G. When I outright refused to share any pin or passwords, he abruptly hung up. Absolutely infuriating! 😡😡😡

Had a call just now that my phone promptly flagged as a suspicious scam. My device warned me against picking up, which was quite handy, I must say. It's rather infuriating to think that over 1.6 million of these calls are being blasted out. One can only hope that they get apprehended sooner rather than later!

A chap with a thick accent rang me up on my landline from 0151 4561200, claiming I was eligible for a 65% refund into my bank account as his company was departing from the UK and consequently cancelling my subscription. Curious, I inquired about the nature of this subscription, and he mentioned it was for the upkeep of my numerous devices. Strangely, he failed to identify his company, and I certainly haven’t signed up for any such thing. I informed him of this and promptly hung up. I’m relieved that I’ve flagged this incident - take heed, everyone! It’s likely he was fishing for my bank credentials, but he was unsuccessful.
