Got a call from some scammer in India after I put my number up on Gumtree. Totally not surprised, just a pain really.

Just a heads up, these scammers have a trick where they use software to scan the internet for any phone numbers posted on legit websites like social media or Gumtree. Once they find a number, their call centre in India gets alerted and they hit you up with dodgy calls about car accidents and stuff. They tend to ring repeatedly, sometimes three times in a row, and use different numbers that look UK-based but definitely aren’t. If you get a call within five minutes of putting your number online, best to ignore it and block straight away. Don't get caught out!
