Received a call from someone saying they were from O2 and offering a 40% contract discount. I rang O2 myself and they confirmed it wasn't them. They also sent me a text with an O2 header and a code, but the message warned not to share the code even with O2 employees. Somebody rang up saying they were from a government-backed project checking on poor conditions in council or housing association homes. When I asked for proof, they said they were part of Legal Advice Ltd., but I couldn’t find any proper website for them, just a sketchy Companies House entry. We went back and forth for ages, about 10 minutes, and it was clear they weren’t really funded by the government. Seems like they were just trying to scare tenants to get landlords to buy something. Total nonsense.

I got a call from this number and was surprised they greeted me first, saying hello after I waited. They asked for me by name and said they were ringing about council housing tenancy, checking if I had issues like mould. I told them no. Then they asked if I live in a council house, to which I replied no again. They said sorry for the hassle and ended the call. Normally, I’d have put this number down as trustworthy, but after seeing other reports saying they claim to be from various companies, I’m not so sure now.

Got a call around 10 in the morning from a lady with an accent that sounded like it was from somewhere in Asia. She claimed she was ringing from Manchester to talk about a housing grant, maybe something to fix damp issues. But the number showed it was from Liverpool, not Manchester. When I said she wasn’t actually calling from the UK, she insisted she was. So I asked her to name a football team from Manchester, and she couldn’t come up with anything. Pretty obvious scam if you ask me.
