My phone went off, showed a Liverpool code, so I picked up. Nothing was said on the other end. I called back and some bloke with a strange voice answered, sounded like he was just reading from a script non-stop. He claimed he was from a company about saving energy and wanted to send someone to have a look at my loft insulation. Said it wouldn't cost me a penny but I could offer them a cuppa if I liked. I told him I don’t have a loft, but he just kept going with his spiel anyway.

I honestly have no clue why Ofgem or Ofcom & oftel arent pressuring the government to put an end to these calls. Ive had 4 dodgy numbers ring me just today and all were scams. We shouldn’t have to deal with this, surely the government has the tech to block these on the phone lines for good. If this keeps up, I’m planning to write to Number 10!

It’s all about safeguarding the worth of your property in case you ever have to move into a care home! This idea seems to come from something mentioned in The King’s speech. I think these folks are just trying to trick vulnerable people, with their real intent being the commission. Luckily, I’m pretty clued up about scams!

Got a call about some “Government Emergency” and they said they were ringing everyone. They just kept going without letting me speak. I cut them off and told them it was an unsolicited call to a personal number and demanded to know where they’d got my details from. Then they just ended the call.

Someone rang asking if I owned the house and then started chatting about getting new windows installed because there’s apparently some kind of scrappage deal going on nearby. Sounds exactly like what others have said too. Watch out, definitely a SCAM CALL!!

Got a call asking if I owned the house - I didn’t answer that. They said they wanted to talk about some new central heating scrappage scheme, which sounded like a load of rubbish. Claimed to be local heating experts, but this number is over 200 miles away from me. Ended the call straight away and blocked the number. It’s dodgy because 1) they lie 2) definitely not local. Feels like a scam, which is really worrying for older or more trusting people getting these calls - WATCH OUT!!!!

I managed to get the woman on the line to admit that they purchase phone numbers, but before we could delve deeper into the conversation, she abruptly ended the call.
