Got a call on my phone from a number starting with +44, said it was from Cardiff. I looked it up here and turns out it’s a scam. Just gone ahead and blocked it straight away.

This number with a +44 code called me, so I looked it up on Who Called Me. Seems like scammers might be using the same number, pretending to be from phone companies. When I blocked them, I saw it was a Wi-Fi call - something I had enabled once but turned off later. Wi-Fi calling is usually just an extra feature you can switch on, but it looks like fraudsters are taking advantage of it, faking that they’re from my network provider. Funny thing is, although many UK mobile networks do have Wi-Fi calling, these days it seems like a trick that’s being misused more and more by scammers.

I got a call from some Twilio thing, said they were in Ireland but sounded like they were actually calling from Liverpool. The woman on the other end spoke with a strong Asian accent that I just couldn't make out at all!

We've been getting calls from this number all evening, and it’s becoming rather tiresome. We haven’t bothered to check any voicemails since it’s not one we recognise. It's relentless-ringing about every ten minutes! What can we do to put an end to this? Unfortunately, we can't just unplug our landline because we rely on it for emergency calls. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I found this number here since it rang me with a +44 code and yielded no results initially. When I switched the format to 0, it brought me to this page. It seems to be one of the various con artists masquerading as representatives from telecom companies. Interestingly, when I attempted to block it, I discovered it was a Wi-Fi call. I had previously enabled this feature on my phone (which I've now disabled), and after researching Wi-Fi calling, it’s typically a setting one can toggle on or off. I've read that scammers often exploit this to disguise their calls as if they originate from genuine phone companies. As a little tidbit, most mobile providers in the UK support this feature, but it’s increasingly becoming a tactic for these dodgy callers.
