01514532959 Summary (Read all comments)

Phone number ☎️ 01514532959 👆 is reported as a scam number impersonating the O2 network provider, targeting customers with false offers of significant discounts on handset upgrades. Callers use high-pressure tactics to obtain a one-time authorisation code via text message, which allows them to fraudulently order devices using victims' bank details. Genuine offers from O2 do not match the suspiciously low prices claimed, and the scammers typically lack basic customer information. Many recipients advise against answering or engaging with this number. Official sources, including Action Fraud and consumer advice organisations, caution the public to remain vigilant and avoid sharing any codes or personal data. It is strongly recommended to verify any such offers directly with O2 through official channels.

I got a call from this number claiming they were offering me an O2 upgrade to an iPhone 14 Pro for just £28 a month over an 18-month period. The deal included unlimited calls, texts, and data with absolutely no initial payment required. They mentioned it was a special offer for being a 'valued customer', giving me a whopping 30% discount. But honestly, it felt a bit dodgy as it sounded too good to be true. A quick peek at O2's official website revealed that the same phone and package ordinarily cost £62 a month! So, in reality, that discount would be more like over 50%! What raised my eyebrows even further was that they couldn't provide my address, email, or even my name. At that point, I politely declined and they promptly ended the call. Clearly, this is a scam. I've also noticed that Action Fraud has addressed this issue, and you can read more about it here: https://www.actionfraud.police.uk/upgradescam

What a dodgy number! They’re masquerading as O2. You might find this piece enlightening: https://www.themoneyedit.com/consumer-advice/o2-scam-call-40-discount "The con consists of a fraudster posing as a telecommunications provider, suddenly calling unsuspecting individuals with a tantalising offer of a limited-time deal. Their tactic is to push the victim into upgrading their mobile device or snagging a whopping 40% off their contract. They’ll send a text with a code, and they’ll insist that the person reads it aloud. Should that code-referred to as an OTAC, or one-time authorisation code-be divulged, the fraudster could go ahead and purchase a phone using the customer's financial information."

Received a call from O2 touting a discount code. I decided to cut the conversation short; it felt a bit dodgy, to be honest.

I missed the call and there was no voicemail left behind.

Received a call from an unfamiliar number, so I opted not to pick up. They didn’t leave any voicemail either.
