I got a call from this number saying I could upgrade my O2 plan to an iPhone 14 Pro for just £28 a month over 18 months. They claimed it included unlimited calls, texts, and data, with zero upfront costs. The caller insisted this was because I’m a “loyal customer” and they were giving me 30% off. It felt a bit dodgy though, so I checked O2’s official site and the same phone on their deals costs around £62 a month - so the so-called discount wasn’t 30%, more like over 50% cheaper! Also, they didn’t have any of my personal details on record - no name, address or email - which made me more suspicious. I told them I wasn’t interested and they just hung up on me. Watch out for this scam number! They pretend to be from O2. They push you to either upgrade your handset or get a massive 40% off your airtime plan. Then, they send a text with a code to your phone and ask you to read it back to them. That code is called an OTAC (one-time authorisation code), and sharing it lets them use your bank info to order phones without your consent. Stay alert!
