Got a call from someone pretending to be with an energy firm, saying they covered my postcode and knew I was the bill payer (without even asking who I was). When I asked them which postcode they meant, they just hung up. I've blocked the number now.

Got a ring from this number just yesterday. They asked if I owned the property, obviously had no clue who I was. Then they started going on about a free energy saving check for things like roof insulation and damp proofing. I asked straight away where they’d got my phone number from, and they just hung up. I’m registered with TPS, so this lot must be working off dodgy data that hasn’t been cleared. I wouldn’t be surprised if they aren’t even registered with the ICO. Honestly, steer well clear - sounds like a proper scam to me.

Don’t hit one, all it does is loop back to the same message. Make sure you report stuff like this to the gov phishing site, the police cybercrime centre, and the financial watchdog. I got an automated call claiming I'd paid £900 and telling me to press one to cancel. It's obviously a scam, either fraud from a fake bank or one of those tricks to charge you loads by redirecting to a premium line. Don’t press anything, it just loops back to the same message. Today I picked up a phone that’s ex-directory here at my work, the number we use just for BT broadband as our main line runs through IP. The caller said he was from some energy company wanting to ask about the insulation in my loft, like checking if it’s thick enough or not. When I asked what address they had for me, he just wouldn’t say a word. Thing is, we’re based in an industrial unit, not a usual home! Then, out of nowhere, he just ended the call. Bit dodgy if you ask me.
