Around 9.25am on 04/03/2020, I got a call from 01514286541. A woman with a proper English accent spoke but didn’t say her name. It was a recorded message about a £500 charge on my Visa to some guy with a really long, complicated name that I couldn’t catch. The recording told me to press 1 to approve the payment. I just hung up straight away. Usually, I don’t even pick up landlines, but I was waiting for an important call so I answered this time.

Just like loads of others here, I got two calls from this number. The first time it just rang onto my voicemail and then they cut off without leaving anything. The second time, I got a robotic voice speaking with a posh English accent saying something along the lines of "Thanks for consenting to a £599 charge on your visa card. If you haven’t okayed this payment…" I put the phone down immediately. I’m pretty sure if I’d stayed on, they’d have pushed me to press 1 and tried to scam me properly. Honestly, these crooks are the absolute worst, preying on people like that is disgusting.

This morning, I got a call claiming there was a £599 charge on my visa card. When I asked them for the last four digits of the card, they said they couldn't share that because of data protection laws. So, I told them "you might notice a short beep, I'm actually recording this call on my computer." They quickly said bye and ended the call.
