Got a call earlier today from someone claiming to be my bank saying there were a couple of big purchases on my account that I hadn’t made. I didn’t name the bank or anything. Seemed like they were trying to freak me out so I’d start tapping numbers or something. I just ended the call straight away, didn’t trust it for a second.

Someone rang claiming to be from BT, saying they were upgrading my line as I’m a customer. They asked me to press 1 to talk to a BT engineer about a new router. When I did, a bloke picked up but didn’t say he was from BT until I asked. He then tried to set up an appointment to come and fit the new router, offering a couple of days the following week. He then told me I had to hook up my laptop so he could sort it out. I wasn’t comfortable with that and said no, so he just ended the call.
