When I rang them back, the answering machine said something like 'Thanks for contacting National Money Savers'. I waited on the line, and when someone finally picked up, they just hung up right after I said hello. It took me three tries before I actually got to speak with a person. I asked what National Money Savers actually do, and the woman explained they conduct surveys and help folks find good deals to save money. I told her it sounds useful, but I never asked for their calls and asked them to stop ringing me all hours. She then told me to ring 01923 288 994 to be taken off their list instantly. I dialled that number; it was an automated message. Fingers crossed those calls will stop now.

My 80 year old mum got a call from someone claiming to be from Golden Charter, the UK's largest funeral plan company. I rung Golden Charter to raise concerns about their rude and heartless approach to contacting older people. The number she got was from Liverpool, but I found out the real Golden Charter have a Glasgow area code. The lady I spoke to promised to investigate it. They said they don’t do cold calls, and after I asked them to make sure they have no record of my mum, they confirmed she’s not on their database and won’t be contacted again.
