i got a call from someone claiming to be with bt openreach saying they were helping with a slow internet issue. they told me to type [#Jspeedtest{###] into the run command on my computer. when i asked how they could prove they were actually from bt, they said a customer ID would show up after doing that. i wanted more evidence before trying it but then they just ended the call. feels like a scam to me.

someone called me claiming to be from bt openreach, saying there were issues in my area. when i told them i hadn’t experienced any problems, they just cut the call straight away! you could hear loads of noise like they were in some busy call centre.

Got a call from someone claiming they were with BT Openreach, saying my internet was slow. He offered to provide me with an ID number or something. I told him it was a scam since I don’t even have a router here. He got really rude and started shouting at me, calling me some nasty names and telling me to f*** off in the end. Proper aggressive bloke.

Watch out, got a call from someone pretending to be Sky, said my internet was having issues and asked for cash and personal details. I just told them to buzz off and hung up straight away.

I've had loads of calls from numbers I don't recognise, all saying they're from BT Openreach but it sounds dodgy. Every time it goes straight to voicemail, but then the caller just hangs up without saying anything. Legit companies usually leave a message so I'm pretty sure these ones are scams. Best to just ignore and not pick up.
