Got two calls from these dodgy scammers today. I asked the woman on the line who she was, but she wouldn’t say and sounded like she was from somewhere in Asia. Told her to get lost, but she kept going on about calling back and that I was being rude. So I just told her to **** off and ended the call. Got a call from some bloke with an Asian accent trying to chat about my TV insurance. When I wouldn’t give him my name, he got all moody, which just pissed me off 'cause he was clearly pulling a scam. Eventually, I told him to piss off. Wow, where do I begin? Just switched my home phone because of a new provider and now I’m getting nonstop scam calls all day long. It’s always this Indian or Asian woman ringing up asking if I'm "Mr G". I say no, who’s this? She claims to be from some fake insurance firm. When I tell her she’s got the wrong number and I’m not Mr G, she actually calls me a liar, saying I am him - twice! At that point, I just lost it and slammed the phone down. Absolutely ridiculous!

A lady called herself Janine and cheerfully told me she was cutting the price of my satellite TV subscription by £25, which would save me more than £150 annually. Seemed like a great deal, except I don’t have satellite TV at all. I gently told her she was completely mistaken and suggested she check her details before attempting such a cheeky trick. I think she got a bit flustered after that.

Seems like lots of folks just can’t handle random calls these days. Truth is, you really don’t have to pick up calls from numbers you don’t recognise. I just don’t answer them, simple as that. If it’s really something important, they’ll leave a clear message you can listen to and sort out. All those rubbish messages about “your internet getting cut off,” “the tax office is after you,” “£600’s been taken from your bank or PayPal,” or “your Amazon Prime needs paying” - just bin them. Honestly, people need to get a grip and think smarter about these calls!

I mean, why not just block the number or simply not pick up when it’s someone unknown? It’s really not that difficult to avoid annoying calls. Got a call from someone saying they were from Home Sure, claiming we had electrical cover with them and that they were planning to reduce the fees. I got a call from someone who had an accent that sounded Asian, claiming my internet was about to get disconnected that day because the server had failed. They said they needed remote access to my computer to sort it out. The way they spoke was really hard to catch, and whenever I asked for proof of their identity, they just ignored me and kept talking over me. They've been quite insistent, warning her that if she doesn’t either renew or decide to cancel her contract, she’ll be looking at a hefty fee of more than £300. It’s absolutely awful how often they ring my elderly mum throughout the day. Despite me shouting at them to stop calling this number, they just keep coming back. This is exactly why I’m not a fan of landlines - at least with mobiles you can block unwanted numbers way easier.

I got two calls from this woman today, and she had an accent I struggled to make out. She kept saying she needed to speak with my elderly husband, not me, because apparently I wasn’t the account holder. It was something about plumbing or drainage. When I told her it was a cold call and we weren’t interested, she got really rude. She insisted my husband had opened an account a couple of years ago, which is definitely not true. She refused to believe me and got even more annoyed when I asked for her name and number so he could call her back. Then she just hung up on me.

I just got a call from one of those call centres. I had to say "telephone preference service" a couple of times before they finally dropped my name. Even then, I repeated it a couple more times, but eventually they just ended the call. I reckon they’ll be back on the line again soon enough.

Got two calls today from a Liverpool number about drainage insurance or something. They mentioned having a manhole cover but I just told the caller to look for a real job instead. Didn’t really seem bothered though, bit annoying!

A woman with an Asian accent called my husband claiming I’d been sorting out plumbing bills before. He told her that couldn’t be true. She insisted I had set up a direct debit in my name and even asked for my details. My husband almost fell for it. Luckily, I was at home so he asked me straight away, but by the time we tried calling back the number, she’d vanished.

My 85-year-old mum keeps getting calls about some drainage problem. The guy said he was with United Utilities, but it sounded dodgy. He tried using scare tactics, saying she’d lose out if she didn’t give her card info quick, threatening fines and all. Last time the number showed up as Liverpool, now it’s a London one. He called himself Henry Baxter. Seemed pretty believable, especially to older folks like her who are hard of hearing and tend to trust people more. They fought for this country and these scammers just prey on that instead of earning an honest living.

I keep getting calls from this number, and each time I try to return the call, I’m met with a rather odd recording that says something like, "Your call is important to us, please do not hang up." The accent sounds distinctly American as well. It's becoming rather frustrating, to say the least!

Got a call about my direct debit for some drain cover, they said they could lower it. I told them I don't have any direct debit set up for my drains and then they just ended the call. They rang back about an hour later but I didn't pick up.
