11 yearsWe’ve been bombarded with calls almost daily for one of our directors who rarely sets foot in the office. Each time we asked if we could take a note for him, the young lady on the other end would simply respond with a firm, “No, I’ll call again.” In my estimation, this occurred a minimum of ten times, as the number became rather recognisable to me-and so did her distinct accent. Just this morning, yet another call came in, and I was absolutely at my wits’ end with the incessant interruptions. I told her straight that they keep calling but refuse to leave any messages. The director is hardly ever around, so it’s really best for them to drop a note. In response, she insisted she had only called three times and wasn’t some sort of mind reader. I pointed out her lack of courtesy, and she shockingly replied that she couldn’t care less and was entirely unfazed.
