I received a call regarding some 'financial compensation' supposedly reserved for personal injuries we reportedly sustained in an accident from two years back-quite absurd, really, as that isn't even the case!

I gotta say, it's annoying but I deal with data stuff daily and honestly, heaps of their info is grabbed from comparison websites. When you go for insurance, they ask about accidents you've been in - whether you caused it or not - and you end up putting all that info down without thinking.

Got loads of calls off Direct Assist, the number was 016185000421. Tried being rude but it didn’t put them off at all. Honestly, would love to have an address so I could go sort it face to face!

Insurance companies don’t just hand over your info, it's Mr Bullough who purchases it from some third party. They try to get you to file a fake injury claim even though they know you’re fine. Seems there’s some technicality or something. The whole outfit is shady, I’ve reported them and apparently they're already under investigation, or so I was told. I’ve blocked their number and honestly, I’d tell everyone else to do the same.

DIRECT ASSIST has really hit rock bottom. For the last two years, I've been bombarded with annoying calls about a supposed accident I never had, coming from them and some other "claims" firms up here in the North West. This morning, to my surprise, a DIRECT ASSIST representative just turned up on my doorstep claiming there was a 9:30 appointment booked - then quickly left when I wasn't having it! I'd ranted at all their callers before, telling them to "F--k off" in reply to texts, so I definitely didn’t agree to any meetings. They’re dreaming if they think I'll back down. I’ve now reported them to the Claims Management Regulator and the Information Commissioner. On top of that, I’m sorting a chat with my MP. They’re really going to hear from me!

They said they were from Direct Assist but it could’ve been anyone really. Seemed like they wanted me to file a dodgy injury claim. The crash was due to the POLICE, so I’m definitely going to report it to them and also at http://actionfraud.org.uk. These lot are total scammers, don’t believe a word they say. One caller claimed my insurance company gave them my info, then another insisted it was from the other party’s insurers - the Police’s insurers!!! Plus, they use multiple mobile numbers and the number 0203 1376635, often blocking their caller ID to stay hidden.

I got a call from someone saying I had some money waiting to be claimed for a car accident I had over a year ago. There was a crash alright, but nobody got hurt or anything. They said they got my info from the other driver's insurance. They did know a bit right info but they had no clue who was actually driving then. They said they worked for some firm called CPA or something like that, but wouldn’t tell me much else. Honestly, I’m just annoyed my details have been passed around to these tossers.

Back in June 2012 I was involved in an accident and the whole matter was sorted and closed with compensation paid by November that year. However, starting around March this year, my phone has been flooded with calls offering compensation claims for that same accident. They ring me roughly six times a day even though I’ve told them multiple times that everything’s been settled. I can only fault my insurance provider, but because my car is a motability vehicle, I don’t get to choose the insurer myself - Royal Sun Alliance Motability is the company in question. No matter how rude or offensive I get on the phone, they just won’t stop bothering me. I've been downright nasty, even making sexist and racist comments, but the calls keep coming. Honestly, the laws need sorting out because there’s no good reason for companies like this constantly pestering folks. Plus, there’s no need to share or sell accident info or personal details to third parties.

So, this guy Darren Bullough says he’s a director or something, and here’s his Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/darren.bullough. Honestly, maybe folks should give him a ring back just for fun, haha. Every single firm that calls me swears they’re innocent, blaming other companies for the dodgy calls from withheld numbers and all that. Feels like these businesses up North West are teaming up, cos the calls always hit me in little bunches of three or four. Quite fishy if you ask me!

I just got a text saying something like...

Missed call: someone from this number called at (time) on (date) but didn’t leave a message.

That’s not how missed calls usually show on my phone, and I haven’t had any missed call at all!

Seems like a total scam to trick you into ringing back.

I didn’t ring them and definitely won’t!

Luckily I took a moment to look it up online and found this site that explains exactly what’s going on.

Just got a couple of calls from this number a minute ago, rang twice then went quiet! Seems connected to an accident I had about a year back which was already dealt with ages ago. On top of that, I’m bombarded by loads of other accident claim firms, looks like Direct Line passed on my info to them all! With all this stress and the ridiculous renewal fees, I’ve decided to drop Direct Line altogether.

This number belongs to Direct Assist, they specialise in no win no fee insurance claims. They kept calling me constantly, trying to persuade me to lodge a claim for a car crash that I never had. I think Aviva must've passed on my phone details to them.

Had a couple calls from this number over the past few days. When I picked up, I could hear voices chatting in the background but then the line just went dead. Afterwards, it said the number's not in service. Bit strange if you ask me.

This number called me too. The bloke kept going on about some crash we supposedly had around nine months back - said we had reversed into a parked car, so obviously it was our fault. Then he claimed we owed nearly £1800 each, which made no sense at all since nobody was hurt and our car wasn’t damaged in the slightest. I reckon he was just after our bank details, but there’s no way I’d give those out. I told him he was talking rubbish and ended the call straight away.

Oh yes, it's definitely Direct Assist, they've been bugging me nonstop for more than a year now. I’ve tried to ignore them but they just keep coming back, all about some accident we were in. They even offered to fill out all the paperwork for us without any questions just to get what they say we’re entitled to. Feels really shady if you ask me. Funny enough, I just got another call from them while I’m writing this.

I tried calling back, but got a message saying "this number isn’t in use anymore." Then I asked the operator and they said it wasn’t one of their numbers. When they connected me to the number’s operator, a guy with a foreign accent answered and claimed he worked for someone called Erik in Bath. It all felt a bit dodgy and didn’t add up at all, so I’m just going to let it drop, cheers! :)
