Then he mentioned something about it being from the road traffic dept, making it sound like it was from the police. Today I got a call from this number, and the guy on the other end sounded Indian. He told me I’d had a crash involving the side and back of my car - which actually is true. He claimed to be from the insurance company and said I was entitled to compensation. Then he asked for my postcode, my car registration, and the other driver’s registration but refused to give me any info himself and just hung up. I ended the call because if it was a genuine company, surely they’d already have that info.

I got a call from this number with a bloke speaking in an Indian accent, jabbering on about some accident compensation. Lately, I’ve been getting calls telling me someone at my place is owed around £4000 for a car crash. There’s also been calls asking if anyone here was involved in a car accident. Seems like the usual scam, trying to fish out your name and bank info by promising compensation. My guess is they hang about and later try to frighten you into transferring your savings, pretending they’re your bank, just to empty your account. It reminds me of those ‘banking survey’ calls where they try to match your name and bank details to your phone number.
