I got a call from someone saying they could help me stop the Government from stripping the value of my house if I moved into a care home. I just told them my daughter’s a lawyer at a big firm in London and what they were suggesting simply couldn’t happen. Told them to jog on. Blocked the number straight away.

My home phone got a ring from this number, but I didn’t answer 'cos I've got an answer machine that displays the caller’s digits even if they don't say a word.
