It turned out to be the co-op making sure it was me trying to make a payment that got blocked, I was a bit hesitant to pick up but happy I did in the end 👍

WATCH OUT!! Fraudsters have cloned phone numbers from every bank out there. These scammers are really skilled. If your bank calls you, listen carefully but don't respond or do anything straight away. Hang up. Make sure the call has properly ended. Then ring your bank using the number on your card. Don’t wait too long though, in case there’s an urgent issue you need to deal with.

I can confirm that this number is trustworthy. The person on the line was from the Co-Operative Bank. While I don’t hold an account there, my mortgage is with Platform Mortgages, which is part of their group. The conversation revolved around my mortgage details. Got a call from someone claiming to be from the Coop Bank. I’d emailed them earlier this week about their online banking being down for ages. Can’t remember the email I used, just found it randomly online. The guy said he was calling back about my complaint and wanted me to do a security check. I didn’t give any info and told him it was all sorted now. Seemed polite enough, but I was a bit suspicious about sharing security stuff since I wasn’t sure if I’d contacted the right address originally.
