I got a call from someone saying they were from HMRC, accusing me of trying to dodge around £900 in unpaid taxes or something like that. They asked for the last four digits of my National Insurance number and my date of birth. Foolishly, I gave it to them because I wanted to hear exactly what the issue was. But as soon as she started naming the supposed charges, I lost it and shouted at her, then she just hung up on me. Now I’m worried because they’ve got my number, address, birthday, and NI details. I’m not sure what my next step should be!

I just got a call from a number claiming to be HMRC. There was this automated voice warning me that if I didn’t press a button right away, I’d be arrested. Felt pretty suspect to me.

They called but didn’t bother leaving a voicemail or anything.
