My dad got calls from 0141 771 9688 and 0151 257 9811 with people saying they were from Microsoft. They told him his account was hacked and someone was playing online poker using it. He’s 82, so it sounded real to him. They mentioned he’d get £9,000 compensation so he gave them his info. Those crooks then took over his computer and managed to get into his online banking, stealing about £10,000. If anyone rings pretending to be from Microsoft, Amazon or similar, please just hang up and warn your family to do the same.

got a call from this number (0151 257 9811) earlier today about 1:15pm. didnt pick up since i didn’t know who it was, and no one i know calls from Liverpool area anyway. they left no voicemail or anything, which is just annoying. honestly, these kinds of calls are really a pain and disruptive.

Received a call regarding a computer that isn’t mine…

When I inquired about the source of the number, she abruptly hung up.

I received a rather tenacious call supposedly from Microsoft, insisting that my computer was infested with malware. Having fallen victim to such scams previously, I was rather sceptical about their claims. Nevertheless, I decided to give my machine a thorough once-over and conducted a malware scan. Unsurprisingly, everything came back clean-no major issues to be found at all.

On the 26th of August, 2020, I received a rather peculiar call from a woman who spoke with a pronounced accent not native to the UK. She asserted she was affiliated with Microsoft and went on to warn me that my computer would face a block unless I engaged with her. I ended the conversation almost immediately, only for her to ring me back, sounding quite irate at my abruptness. She insisted on discussing my computer issues, which I firmly declined. When I mentioned I had no interest in such a conversation, she ominously threatened to impose a block on my system. Naturally, I decided to terminate the call yet again.
