I received a phone call from a woman purporting to be from Carphone Warehouse, promising me incredible deals on some of the latest mobile devices. However, when I declined her offers, her demeanor took a turn for the worse. She became surprisingly aggressive and rather foul-mouthed.

Some guy called Ahmed claiming to be from “Talk Talk” told me my “internet password” had been leaked or whatever and someone had been using my connection for dodgy stuff. I didn’t listen much after that. If he was tryna plant a virus on my computer he wouldn’t have got far, I don’t even own one. Would’ve kept chatting but wanted to chill outside in the garden while the sun was out, plus my phone barely gets signal past the kitchen lol.

Got a call from someone called Erica claiming to be from Amazon. She said she could help me cancel or renew my Amazon Prime subscription. I told her to cancel it, but then she got pretty annoyed and told me to go on my laptop and look up some weird website ([#]awesum[###]). Luckily, the call dropped before I could do anything. Total scam, I reckon!

He claimed my internet was "unstable" and causing a bad connection. I told him I work from home online all day and haven’t had any problems, then he switched gears and said my connection was being used for "illegal stuff" without my knowledge. Oddly, he did mention my provider’s name, though that might’ve been a lucky guess.

Got a call from an Asian bloke saying he was with Talk Talk. He told me they were carrying out some important work nearby and my internet might not be working right. He asked what colour the lights on my router were flashing, I said it wasn’t flashing at all, just stayed white. Then he asked me to switch on my PC, but I told him I don’t own a PC, only my phone. After that, I got suspicious it might be a scam, so I ended the call and looked up the number online!

Someone rang up pretending to be from TalkTalk (I’m not even a customer!) claiming my wireless IP switched from private to public and it needed sorting. I told her it sounded like a scam - she said I had no idea what I was on about. Then she said she'd have to access my PC remotely to ‘fix’ it. Funny thing is, she didn’t even try to deny she’d put a virus on it and then charge me to get rid of it. Totally dodgy.

A bloke named "Mark" rang me claiming to be from Virgin Media about my internet. We ended up having a pretty heated chat (both of us getting a bit narky!) for about 7 minutes before he just hung up. Never dealt with someone so pushy and dodgy before. He kept pushing me for my Virgin account info, which a legit caller would already have. Honestly, these people are the worst kind of scum.

Got a call from 01512452600 at 10:39 am on 24/09/2021. The bloke didn’t say his name but started with a "hello Sir, how’s your day going?" I didn’t really want to engage and he claimed he was ringing from Virgin Media. I was a bit suspicious since I’ve had loads of these calls before, even had to change my number because of it. I cut him off quickly, told him "I highly doubt you’re actually from Virgin Media, they usually contact me via email. Goodbye." Then I just hung up. I found the number using 1471.
