I received an identical call today. First, there was the intriguing tale from 01512365532. Then, I got another one from the "creative team" at 01512360741. Quite the coincidence, wouldn't you say?

I received a phone call from an individual named "Frank Abbott", who claimed to be affiliated with the Crime Prevention Initiative, known as "Crimestoppers," based in Swansea. He mentioned that my business had been put forward as a prime candidate for advertising in a police magazine and provided some rates for the adverts. I expressed my interest, after which “the publisher chap” was supposed to ring me for the necessary details regarding the wording and logo. About thirty minutes later, I got a follow-up call from this "publisher chap" from "Mode PR." I indicated that I’d like some time to consider the offer. Shortly after, I got another call from "Frank Abbott," who seemed to be pressuring me to make a decision, implying that I was going back on my word. I’ve documented all the numbers if anyone’s curious. I've also reported this to Crimestoppers and Citizens Advice for their records.

Quite an aggressive salesman, if you ask me! He became rather impolite towards the conclusion of our conversation and didn't disclose the initial phone number, yet they decided to ring me again. I have serious doubts about their legitimacy as a business; I highly doubt the police would be so discourteous.

I received a rather peculiar withheld call, very similar to the previous one, where some chap was waffling on about fantastic offers if I were to advertise in a rather dodgy police magazine. They claimed my details had been passed on by the local council - quite the tale, isn’t it? Then, out of the blue, another number rang me, insisting I needed to finalise a verbal arrangement (0151 236 0741). Admittedly, I was a bit naive and agreed to it at that moment. However, upon receiving their booking information, I promptly shot off an email to cancel. Luckily, they had to oblige, as their contract stipulates a cancellation period of just 48 hours. Do keep in mind that they’re not inclined to respond quickly when you call, so the best course of action is to email them to cancel and to forward that email to yourself as proof, just in case they attempt to take legal action against you. It’s worth noting, this magazine is an absolute farce and doesn’t even exist! They’ll concoct one purely to provide you with some form of evidence! Absolutely outrageous!

I became quite wary when the second caller proposed that I provide my date of birth as a means to verify the order number. It screamed scam and was quite the sales tactic. The initial caller claimed to be affiliated with the police federation, but when I had a local constable call him, he completely denied any link to the police. Instead, he claimed it was some sort of promotional work for a car club federation. Absolute crooks!

I’ve just received a call from the same number. We haven’t provided any card information to them, and quite frankly, it seems a bit suspect!

I received a rather unexpected call from someone urging me to advertise in their police magazine. They directed me to their site, www.fbpmc.com. As a cleaning business owner, I'm a bit taken aback- is this a standard approach? I haven't spent a penny yet, but I’m keen to understand whether this is a genuine opportunity or just another dodgy scheme. Can anyone advise if this is something I should be cautious about? Cheers, Suzanne from Swishh Cleaning
