When I get calls from unknown numbers, most times the caller hangs up before the voicemail starts. But if the answering machine does pick up, I listen quickly to check if it’s someone I know or wanna speak to. If it is, I jump in and say something, but if not, I simply end the call. Ever since I've done this, the spam and cold calls have pretty much stopped completely.
