I spoke to him one time and he said his name was Sam Cooper, claiming to be calling from the Telephone Preference Service. He wanted to confirm my postcode and some other info. I asked him for his number since it showed up as UNAVAILABLE when he called, and he gave me a London number. Told him to stop calling, but he’s already phoned me back two more times.

From Saturday through to today, Monday, I've been bombarded with a staggering 13 calls from this particular number. I answered once only to find silence on the other end, which I found quite frustrating. Today, when I finally picked up and heard a voice, I firmly told them to cease their endless calls as I had reached my limit. Despite my plea, they continued to ring me another six times, starting bright and early before 9 am. This has turned out to be the most annoying spate of nuisance calls I have ever encountered.

The caller identified himself as being from BT, enquiring about my direct debit details. He requested my account number and the expiry date on my card, which instantly raised my suspicions, so I terminated the call.

The first call I just ended straight away. The second one asked if I’d received any annoying calls recently. I told them they were actually the second one and then hung up. The third caller was trying to check if I’d paid my phone bill by card, then changed it to direct debit, and finally claimed I paid with cash at the post office! Total scammers.
