I received a phone call from someone claiming to be from a debt advice service. They had an alarming amount of personal information about me, including my full name and my address. It was quite unsettling how they were aware that I had been seeking help after my loan application got turned down. However, to my dismay, it all turned out to be a fraudulent scheme!

Received a call from this number claiming to be a debt advice service. They knew my full name and said they had details that I'd looked for debt help after being refused a loan. I told them that wasn’t true at all. I don’t have any debts and haven’t applied for any loans. Despite that, they kept repeating the same stuff but I made it clear it didn’t apply to me. They said they’d 'correct their records'. The guy was quite persistent but polite. Feels like a scam to me, definitely block this number!

It’s alright to gripe about these scam calls, but how about actually taking some action? There’s some info in a post below. Spend about half an hour on it and the reply from your MP could be really eye-opening. You’ve got to clearly describe the issue and ask about these dodgy spoofed UK landline numbers used by fraudsters. Keep in mind - these crooks only keep doing this because vulnerable people get tricked and lose money. Please take some responsibility and demand proper anti-scam measures.

I only got this new contract with Three in December and switched my number then, so I’m baffled how these companies manage to get my info. I’m certain I never put my new number up online or anywhere that shares data. The only thing that makes sense to me is either Three sold my details or these companies are just randomly calling numbers until someone picks up.
