They rang me a couple of times today but I ignored it. Honestly, don’t these folks have anything better to do than bothersome calls?

Got a call from this number today. When I tried calling back, the message said something like ‘Arkaly Law’ or similar, talking about a car accident. It was completely unrelated to me and pretty irritating.

Got a call pretending to be from the national hearing centre, but it turned out to be a scam.

Got a call from some bloke talking about an accident I supposedly had in the past two years. Didn’t happen at all. Definitely spam, best just ignore it.

Got a call earlier where the person only asked for my partner by his first name. I asked who it was, and she said it was from a law firm regarding an accident he supposedly reported. When I asked for more details about the accident, she just ended the call right away.

My mum’s 75 and she got a call asking if she’d ever worked in a factory before. When she said yes, they told her she could claim anywhere from £3000 to £9000. She hung up, but then the phone rang again almost immediately, and they started trying to make an appointment for a hearing test. Sounds dodgy to me. Is this yet another scam? How do you even block these annoying calls?

Avoid answering calls from this number. They’ve called my nonagenarian dad a couple of times claiming he’s got an 'industrial hearing issue' (which he doesn’t) and wanted to set up a hearing check. Luckily, I caught the call in time. It was quite distressing for both of us. Oddly enough, he’d been speaking with a famous optician just the previous day, trying to book a hearing test at home. Are phone details being passed around like this? I’m keen to look into this more but unsure where to start. Any advice would be appreciated. Sondra

The number had a local area code, and the person on the phone spoke with a thick Yorkshire accent. They claimed to be calling from the National Hearing Centre.

Got a random call from a 01508 number out of the blue, didn’t ask for it at all.

Today, I got a call from this number out of the blue. I picked up since it had the same area code as mine, and a lady claimed she was ringing from the National Hearing Centre somewhere in Yorkshire. I hung up fairly quickly, then tried calling back 812004, and some robot voice said thanks for calling the legal service and that they’d connect me soon, so I just ended the call. Anyone know who’s behind this and how they’re managing to spoof a local code like that?
