When I told them I’m not even with VirginMedia, they insisted that they handle support for every broadband provider in the UK. So naturally, I asked which provider I use to check if they were legit - and then the bloke just freaked out and ended the call. Quite suspicious if you ask me.

I got a call from someone claiming to be from Virgin Media, saying there was an issue with my internet. It sounded really convincing at first, because you could hear what seemed like a proper call centre in the background. They told me to check for these “white lights” on my modem, and mentioned a repair technician nearby. When I asked how I was meant to spot these lights, their explanation didn’t make much sense. Then, as soon as I asked if they’d confirmed who my actual internet provider was, the call just cut off dead. Definitely felt like a proper scam.

Got a call claiming to be Virgin saying I could get an upgrade, but they wanted my bank info for direct debit. The bloke sounded Indian, which I guess isn't unusual since Virgin do have call centres over there. Maybe these scammers got their idea from that? The number showed up as from West Lothian, Scotland, but I’m pretty sure that was just a front too.

Told them no, but that my lad works as a technician for Virgin Media, and offered to put him on. They just hung up straight away. Pretty clear this is just another dodgy scam going around.
