I received a call from this number, and the person on the other end left a rather urgent message asking me to return the call. She identified herself as Claire from HMRC and suggested that I might require a solicitor. To top it off, she insisted that I should NOT disregard this call. The voice sounded distinctly American, which struck me as quite odd.

I got a call as well, and right away I figured it was dodgy. Still, they sounded really convincing. The main thing that made me suspicious was not getting any letters or documents in the mail like they said I would. I ended up telling the cops about it. Honestly, it really unsettled me - what sort of scumbags would try this sort of thing? Seriously, don’t hand over any cash to these people.

I got a call from this number on my mobile earlier and it was some robotic voice talking about legal trouble. Loads of others seem to have got exactly the same scary message. Does that mean every straightforward taxpayer is gonna get busted by a robo-voice pretending to be HMRC? Feels like we’re living in some kind of Terminator movie. This guy, something like Martin Victor, rang me up pretending to be from HMRC. He claimed I was in debt for almost £4000 and warned if I didn’t pay half by 1pm, an officer would turn up at 1.30 to arrest me. Then he said I’d have to go to court and end up owing nearly £20,000 because of the legal fees. It’s horrible how these scumbags take advantage of vulnerable people like this!

Got a call from an Indian man and woman using a Bathgate, Scotland number, but they were actually ringing from India saying they were from HMRC. I already knew it was a scam, but I stayed on the phone and overheard them tricking some poor soul into handing over £19,000. Honestly, as long as your number isn't blocked, I reckon it’s worth calling them back and dragging the call out (just watch your phone bill!) to stop them targeting anyone else during that time. Would be brilliant if everyone shared this dodgy number so we could disrupt their scam calls altogether.

Definitely felt dodgy to me - HMRC normally use their official secure messages, plus the voice on the recording sounded totally American, which is pretty suspicious for a UK government department.
