11 yearsBoth my wife and I received a call at the same time, both inquiring about our eldest son. I explained that they had dialled the wrong number, and they promptly disconnected! I decided to ring the number back and was met with a rather unpleasant woman who claimed she couldn’t disclose any information because of the Data Protection Act (DPA). I pointed out that she had actually contravened the DPA since the number is registered with the Telephone Preference Service (TPS). Still, she refused to share any details. So, I tried again using my wife’s phone, only to discover they were probing if I’d had an accident in the last three years! I reiterated the TPS regulations, and they assured me they would remove my number from their list. Wouldn’t you know it? Just ten minutes later, they called again, this time from a No Caller ID number, and yet again they were asking for our son. I can’t help but wonder how effective the TPS really is with this sort of thing!
