Just got another call today that said it was from BT tech support, something about my internet connection. They used my local area code but the rest of the number was different (had already flagged a similar one here). Seems like these scammers are trying to make their numbers appear local so folks on here from other regions can't really spot the pattern. When I mentioned to the woman - who definitely didn’t sound British - that I’d reported a similar call to BT’s fraud team, she just hung up straight away.
