I got a call from a guy with an Asian accent claiming he worked for BT, even though I’m not a customer. He launched into the usual spiel about internet issues and asked me to open the event viewer on my Windows PC. Turns out it’s a known con where they highlight some normal log entry to make it sound suspicious, then try to sell you a bogus repair. I asked him if he ever saw himself as honest in the mirror, and whether this was how he thought making a living worked. He quickly hung up after that.

Then today, the same number called again, saying my internet security had been compromised. I told her to find honest work instead of trying to scam folks and she just hung up.

Just got a call from someone saying they're from the " BT Tech Support" saying my internet would be cut off. I told the guy I get calls like that loads, mostly from a recorded American woman’s voice. Even after all those calls, my internet’s still working fine, so I told him straight up it’s a scam.

Got a call saying it was from BT warning me my internet was going to be disconnected. They couldn’t answer the simplest questions I asked and then just ended the call on me. I’ve reported it to the ICO. Honestly, phone providers should be forced to block these kinds of calls. But I guess they turn a blind eye since they probably profit from these annoying calls anyway!

Today I’ve had four scam calls already. This last bloke kept repeating “hello, hello,” so I played along and said the same back to him. Then he asked if I could hear him, and I replied, “Yeah, loud and clear.” I told him straight up that I reckoned he was a con artist trying to scam me and others out of their cash. I told him to do something decent for a change, instead of being a common thief. He sounded surprised, then swore before slamming the phone down.
