11 yearsOn the 4th of August, I received a rather lengthy call lasting about forty minutes from someone purporting to be from TalkTalk. They conducted a remote operation on my computer, which felt quite advanced, and claimed they needed to eliminate something “worse than a virus.” Eventually, they mentioned that something had lapsed and there would be a £6 fee payable via card. When my card was reportedly declined, I asked my partner to step in and cover the cost with his card instead. Immediately after hanging up, I received a call from Western Union, warning me that I had been conned. I rushed to both banks where they discovered an attempted withdrawal of £695 from my account and a successful one of £350 from my partner’s.
